With Jeremy Swayman getting his new contract, which Boston Bruins could receive extensions next?
The Boston Bruins made a massive move yesterday (Oct. 6), re-signing Jeremy Swayman to an eight-year, $66 million contract. With this, the Bruins now have their long-term answer between the pipes locked up.
Now, after getting Swayman signed, the Bruins are entering this season with multiple other contract extension candidates. Let’s discuss the top three players now.
Brad Marchand.
Bruins captain Brad Marchand is entering the final season of his current deal. Given his immense importance to the club, both on and off the ice, he is a player that GM Don Sweeney should work hard to keep around. Without much surprise, Sweeney has also confirmed that he has started extension talks with Marchand’s camp.

Marchand is entering his 16th season with the Bruins and is still a star in this league. Thus, getting him extended should be the top item on the Bruins’ to-do list now that Swayman is re-signed.
Trent Frederic
Trent Frederic is also in the final year of his contract in 2024-25. The 2016 first-round pick is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent (UFA) on July 1, 2025, but the Bruins should avoid letting that happen at all costs.

Frederic took a big step forward this past season, posting new career highs with 18 goals, 22 assists, 40 points, and 204 hits. Overall, he took both his offense and physicality to a new level, so the Bruins should work hard to keep him around in their top nine beyond this season.
Morgan Geekie
Morgan Geekie proved to be a home-run addition for the Bruins last season. In 76 games, the 6-foot-3 forward set new career highs with 17 goals, 22 assists, and 39 points. With numbers like these, the 2017 third-round pick cemented himself as a key piece of the Bruins’ offense.

Due to this, Geekie is another player the Bruins should ultimately look to sign to an extension. This is especially so if he takes another step forward in 2024-25 with his increased role.
