One of the Boston Bruins’ top objectives will be to add to their top six this summer. While bringing in a first-line center is necessary, they are also expected to pursue top-six wingers.
This year’s free agency class offers solid options like Jake Guentzel, Sam Reinhart, Tyler Bertuzzi, Tyler Toffoli, and Jonathan Marchessault. However, the Bruins also have a potential trade target in Philadelphia Flyers winger Joel Farabee.
Farabee has created some buzz in the rumor mill since the end of the season. With the Flyers rebuilding and having several promising young forwards, he could be made expendable for the right price.
Farabee, 24, would be a big addition to the Bruins’ lineup. The 2018 first-round pick has shown that he has the tools to be a long-term top-six forward in the NHL. However, he could also thrive playing on a much better Bruins team, as he would have more offensive support.
If the Bruins acquired Farabee, he would be a great fit on a line with David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha. However, he also could make magic on a line with Brad Marchand, as he can play on his off-wing. In addition, he would be an obvious pick for their power play because of his net-front presence ability and great shot.
Farabee appeared in 82 games this season with the Flyers, posting new career highs with 22 goals, 28 assists, and 50 points. While it was a solid year for the New York native, there’s an expectation that he hasn’t hit his ceiling yet. Maybe he could in Boston.
