Danton Heinen is among the Boston Bruins’ many free agents for the 2024 NHL Offseason. After earning a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Bruins through a successful tryout, Heinen is due for a raise.
Heinen, 28, proved to be a solid offensive producer for the Bruins this year, posting 17 goals, 36 points, and a plus-17 rating in 74 games. Due to his contributions, the 2014 fourth-round pick even got plenty of time in the Bruins’ top six.
With Heinen having such a successful 2023-24 season, GM Don Sweeney has not closed the door on re-signing the winger. According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, the Bruins are expected to start discussing a potential new deal with Heinen this week.

Given how well Heinen fit in on the Bruins during his second stint with the club, it is understandable that Sweeney is interested in keeping him around. He did far more than expected on his league-minimum deal and had one of his best professional seasons because of it.
If the Bruins get Heinen re-signed, he will continue to be a nice part of their middle six. We will need to wait and see if they get a new deal done before July 1 from here.
