July 1 is here, which means that NHL free agency will begin at noon. It is going to be a very eventful day with several players finding new homes.
The Boston Bruins, who have plenty of cap space, are expected to be notable spenders this year as they look to build a Stanley Cup caliber roster.
In a recent article, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman predicted where some of the top free agents will land today. In it, he listed the Bruins as the predicted landing spots for center Elias Lindholm and defenseman Nikita Zadorov.
It is no secret that the Bruins have been connected to Lindholm since last offseason, and now is their golden chance to bring him to Boston. They desperately need a top-six center, and he would give them that. They also have the money to get him signed to the deal he is looking for.
As for Zadorov, he has been creating some buzz as a target for the Bruins, and it makes sense. They are expected to move on from Matt Grzelcyk and Derek Forbort this summer, so they need more depth on their left side. In addition, the Bruins absolutely need more size and toughness on their blueline, and Zadorov would give them that.
It is important to note that Friedman predicting this does not mean that the Bruins are guaranteed to sign either player at this juncture. However, it is something to certainly pay attention to once we get to the start of free agency. If Boston gets one or both of these players, they would definitely strengthen their roster.
