That could greatly assist New York’s chances of going far in the playoffs next season.
But Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla isn’t worried.
Speaking to the press, per Daniel Donabedian, Mazzulla said, “Everybody is trying to upgrade their roster before the end of the season … We just gotta focus on us.”
Focusing on his team is exactly what Mazzulla will do.

He has plenty of good things to focus on.
The Celtics are the reigning NBA champions and the odds-on favorites to win the championship again next season.
They haven’t made any big changes this summer so they clearly still have what it takes to go all the way.
Meanwhile, the rest of the East is trying to get stronger and multiple teams have beefed up in the offseason.
It’s not just the Knicks who have tried to improve.
The Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and others have tried hard to enhance their chances in 2024-25.
The Celtics will be coming back to an Eastern Conference that is stronger and more competitive but they should still be a team that everyone else fears.
Mazzulla is about to start training camp with the Celtics and they will begin to work on a plan that will get them back-to-back championships.
He knows the competition is tougher but still believes in his team’s chances.
