After it led to good early chemistry for both the first and second lines, interim Bruins coach Joe Sacco is sticking with his line changes for now.
Sacco moved David Pastrnak up to play with Brad Marchand and Elias Lindholm in Wednesday’s win over the Chicago Blackhawks and dropped Justin Brazeau to a line with Pavel Zacha and Morgan Geekie.
Pastrnak assisted on two Marchand goals and Brazeau set up Morgan Geekie twice.
“It’s been a while since we actually connected and played together,” said Pastrnak. “For me, that changed the game last game. Both lines got going and sometimes that’s what you need. Sometimes it creates a lot of momentum for the player. For me at least, that changed the game.”
In his brief stint in the big chair, Sacco hasn’t been as prone to changing combinations as Jim Montgomery was but liked this so far
“We’ll see where it goes moving forward, but we got a good response from Marchy and David and Lindy together, and then the second line, as well,” he said. “I think they gave us a good response there, too.”
The Bruins host the Flyers on Saturday at 1 p.m.
