The 2024 NFL trade deadline is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. E.T. NFL teams have until then to make moves or stick with what they’ve got heading into the second half of the season.
The Cleveland Browns have reportedly made a move during the middle of their game on Sunday.
Browns defensive end Za’Darius Smith is reportedly expected to be traded to the Detroit Lions. The “expectation” is that Smith, 32, will be traded to Detroit on Sunday night or Monday morning.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the current expectation is that Smith will be traded to Detroit tonight or tomorrow.
Smith, 32, has played for the Ravens, Packers, and Vikings. He has said he’d welcome a trade to Detroit, since it would allow him to compete directly with two of his former teams.
The Lions lost defensive end Aidan Hutchinson to injury three weeks ago. It’s been believed that they’ll trade for a pass rusher. They haven’t yet. With the deadline coming on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET, it could be now or never.
If Smith is being traded, why is he playing in Sunday afternoon’s game against the Chargers? The Browns, in the middle of a rebuild, need all the assets they can get. Risking an injury to a player you are set to trade is bold, to say the least.
The Chargers are leading the Browns 20-3 on Sunday.
