Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has apologised to fans after the Millers’ postponed their match against Blackpool FC.
The team had been due to take on Blackpool at Bloomfield Road as part of the Sky Bet League One tournament.
However, as a result of the extreme weather caused by Storm Darragh, the decision was made early on Saturday morning (December 7th) to postpone the match for safety reasons.
Speaking about the decision to call off the match, Evans said he was “really disappointed” to let fans down about the last-minute notice.
“We are very fortunate as players and staff that we are paid to do a job in this game but our supporters have to work their respective jobs to raise the funds to come and support their team,” he said.

“This decision, through no fault of Blackpool Football Club or our own, should, in our opinion, have been made yesterday, given the extreme weather warnings served across the UK.”
He added: “We felt that in the circumstances, with such warnings issued, the only correct decision would have been to postpone the game at the earliest possible opportunity.
“I’d like to apologise on behalf of the football club to our supporters and I hope that anyone who had begun their journey to Blackpool stays safe in these difficult weather conditions and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.”
Rotherham United’s next fixture is scheduled to take place on Tuesday (December 10th), when the team take on Tranmere Rovers at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
