As the best team in the NBA takes on the reigning champions, there are plenty of narratives at play between the Celtics and Nuggets. In between those two high-quality opponents is also Derrick White, who’s a Denver native. White played his college ball at Division II Colorado-Colorado Springs before transferring to the Division I level with Colorado. Then he was a first-round pick in 2017 to the Spurs.
Ahead of the 10 p.m. Thursday game in Denver, White talked about some of the emotions that come with playing his hometown team.
“It’s always fun coming back here,” White told reporters in Denver. “Just seeing your parents. It’s a little different for me. People are like, ‘Go Derrick, but I want the Nuggets to win.’ So it’s kind of a little different from that aspect. But just going out, having fun, and enjoying it.”
